Let Me Off The Leash
©1998 Grant Livingston
You say that I'm a dog, a big old hound.
I know it must be true, the way I follow you all around.
My dog house is real cosy,
Our little rose garden is rosy,
But just outside is the whole world wide
And I feel a little nosy.

Let me off the leash, won't you please?
I won't be sniffing my nose
 - where it's not supposed to be.
I'll leave the kitty cats alone,
I won't stray far from home,
Sometimes you know a big old dog just got to roam.
Let me, let me, let me off the leash.
Just gotta know if this old world
  - got any new tricks to teach.
I'll always come home to you,
You know I did say that I do
And I'll be true if you just let me off the leash.

Tonight I'd like to go out with the boys
We'll steal some eggs, we'll lift our legs, we'll make a little noise
That don't mean I don't love you
I think you hung the moon
Let me make this clear, without you here
I don't know what I'd do!

If you ever leave I'll bark and howl!
Don't make me cry
Don't say goodbye
No, never tell your puppy "ciao"

But let me off the leash, won't you please?
I won't be sniffing my nose
 - where it's not supposed to be.
I'll leave the kitty cats alone,
I won't stray far from home,
Sometimes you know a big old dog just got to roam.
Let me, let me, let me off the leash.
Just gotta know if this old world
  - got any new tricks to teach.
I'll always come home to you,
You know I did say that I do
And I'll be true if you just let me off the leash.

Tonight I'd like to go out with the boys
We'll steal some eggs, we'll lift our legs, we'll make a little noise
That don't mean I don't love you
I think you hung the moon
Let me make this clear, without you here
I don't know what I'd do!

Let me, let me, let me off the leash.
Just gotta know if this old world
  - got any new tricks to teach.
I'll always come home to you,
You know I did say that I do
And I'll be true if you just let me off the leash.
I will be true if you just let me off the leash
Once in a while.
Let me, let me off the leash!
Aaaa-ooooh!

Le Chat Gris
© 1998 Grant Livingston
I'm the gray cat in the graveyard - Je suis le chat gris
The graveyard tour is about to start - Je suis le chat gris
Two thousand souls lie sleeping here
But bring your candles, never fear
Scratch me right behind the ear! - Je suis le chat gris
Allez!  Je suis le chat gris
Encore!  Je suis le chat gris

Here's Alain, I know him well - Je suis le chat gris
He's got lots of scary stories to tell - Je suis le chat gris
Here lies monsieur and his wife
Death by drowning, gun or knife
Everyone ends up here, that's life! - Je suis le chat gris
Allez! Je suis le chat gris
Encore!  Je suis le chat gris

This gravestone's got a skull with wings - Je suis le chat gris
And the candlelight brings out the flying things - Je suis le chat gris
Here's a big moth, he's juicy and fat
One swipe of my paw and that is that
He saw the flame but not the cat - Je suis le chat gris
Dîtes-moi!  Je suis le chat gris
Encore!

I'm the gray cat in the graveyard - Je suis le chat gris
Blow the candles out before you depart - Je suis le chat gris
Go, be happy, drink your wine
Sing and dance while you have time
You only get one life, but I get nine - Je suis le chat gris
You only get one life, but I get nine - Je suis le chat gris
Je suis le chat gris
Je suis le chat gris
Finis!

Don't Bother Jack
© 1999 Grant Livingston
I got a friend named Jack—he's a regular guy,
But you don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!
He’ll shake your hand, look you square in the eye,
But you don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!
When Jack's eating pie all the world does cease,
He's the picture of a man who has truly found piece,
But touch his fork, we'll have to call the police, no lie!
You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!

Doesn't matter if it's winter or the 4th of July,
You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!
He got a scoop of vanilla sitting on the side,
You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!
Got a friendly grin that shines through that beard,
A man to be trusted, and not to be feared.
There’s just one time he gets a little weird, no lie!
You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!

No, you don't bother Jack (You don't bother Jack!)
No, you don't bother Jack (You don’t bother Jack!)
No, you don't bother Jack, can you tell me why?
(You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!)

Way up in heaven there’ll be pie in the sky,
You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!
We’ll all become angels and learn to fly,
You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!
The King will call Jack down to his right hand,
I'll say, "wait a minute Lord, you got to understand,
But I guess you do, because you made that man, no lie!"
Even YOU don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!

Well, you don't bother Jack (You don't bother Jack)
No, you don't bother Jack (You don't bother Jack)
No, you don't bother Jack, can you tell me why?
(You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie)

There’s just one rule that we gotta live by,
You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!
Fish gotta swim and birds gotta fly
And you don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!
A lie's a lie, a fact's a fact,
Life is pie, and that is that.
And if you disagree, then you don't know Jack, no lie!
You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie!

Well, you don't bother Jack (You don't bother Jack)
No, you don't bother Jack (You don't bother Jack)
No, you don't bother Jack, can you tell me why?
(You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie)
Well, you don't bother Jack (You don't bother Jack)
No, you don't bother Jack (You don't bother Jack)
No, you don't bother Jack, can you tell me why?
(You don't bother Jack when he's eating pie)

Two of Hearts
© 1996 Grant Livingston

Aces are high, Jacks are wild
Just ask any child, he'll tell you so
Kings and Queens and Aces win
Simple things that everybody knows
Those are the rules, but only when you're playing cards

CHORUS:
'Cause after all the games are through
It all comes down to me and you
And nothing beats the two of hearts

Just you and me, that's enough
And when things get tough, here's what we'll do
We may not hold all the aces
But you hold me and I'll keep holding you
And we'll get through, like we've been doing from the start

REPEAT CHORUS:

BRIDGE:
We don't have much but we'll be fine
You give your heart, I'll give mine

CHORUS:
'Cause after all the games are through
It all comes down to me and you
And nothing beats the two of hearts
After all the games are through
It all comes down to me and you
And nothing beats the two of hearts

Pointy Side Up
© 2000 Grant Livingston
Let's start at the beginning
This thing is called a boat
It's got a big long pointy mast
Two hulls to make it float
And when you're out there sailing
Upon the ocean deep
The most important thing of all
Is remembering to keep (the)

CHORUS:
Pointy Side Up
One simple rule
Pointy Side Up
Like they teach in sailing school
Pointy Side Up
You can be a sailing fool
If you just remember to keep
The Pointy Side Up

Now after all that sailing
When you go out for a brew
Remember keep those big old pontoon feet
On the ground there under you

And your pointy little pinhead
Keep that pointed toward the skies
'Cause just like on the ocean
The very same rule applies

Repeat Chorus:

Actors they say "break a leg"
Surfers say "hang ten"
And it was long ago, Mission Control
Said "Godspeed John Glenn"

You can give your buddy a handshake
You can give your honey a kiss
But to say good luck to a sailor
You've only gotta say this:

Repeat Chorus:

Heaven
©1998 Grant Livingston

I know there's an ocean in Heaven,
Sailboats sailing out on the bay.
I know there's an ocean in Heaven,
Grandpa would like it that way.

We'd go sailing when I was seven.
There's no place that I'd rather be.
Sailboat seemed a whole lot like heaven
Back then to Grandpa and me.

Chorus:
What is Heaven?  It seems clear!
This life seems a lot like Heaven to me,
Heaven must be lot like here,
Heaven must be an awful lot like here.

Some days we'd try to sail to a rainbow,
He'd say the end is just over there.
And hey, we never got to that rainbow.
Grandpa and I did not care.

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
I don't know if there's a heaven.
I know soon enough we'll see.
  I don't know if there's a heaven
So right now's good enough for me.

And so I think we'd better go sailing,
I know there'll be a south wind today.
I'll go with my dad and my brother,
Grandpa would like it that way.

Repeat Chorus

I know there's an ocean in heaven,
I know there's an ocean in heaven,
I know there's an ocean in heaven,
I know.

Gasoline Angels
©1999 Grant Livingston
Albert Einstein went out on the road
With his good friend Gypsy Rose
As a courtesy he kept the conversation less technical
And she kept on her clothes

Albert had the brain that had united space and time
Rose could see the future, and she could read your mind
But they did not have a practical bone between
And the gas gauge needle
Was sitting on "E"

Albert said, "E equals empty, squared!"
Rose said, "Albert, don't be scared"
He said, "we'll have to push this car a long, long, way"
She said, "think only happy thoughts. . .
And help me pray!"

 To gasoline angels
 Gasoline angels
Oo oo oo, oo oo oo, oo oo, oo oo oo

Albert calculated for a quarter of an hour
But the gypsy raised her faith to a higher power
And the gas gauge needle was arrested in its travel
And they coasted to the station
Tires crunching on the gravel

And that great big Shell was like a sign from heaven
And they pumped in fourteen gallons, though the manual said eleven
He said, "this car is wunderbar, but I cannot tell you why"
She said, "the laws of Physics, Albert, dear . . .
Do not apply!"

 To gasoline angels
 Gasoline angels
Oo oo oo, oo oo oo, oo oo, oo oo oo

Well, they got back on the road again, and the gypsy seemed real pleased
Albert, he was silent, and a little ill at ease
And he pondered and he pondered and then he though some more
Until he found the answer
That he was looking for

He said, "Rose we know the secret now, we never will be stuck!"
She just smiled that crooked half-a-smile . . . and she said,
"Don't push your luck!"

 With gasoline angels
 Gasoline angels
Oo oo oo, oo oo oo, oo oo
Oo oo oo, oo oo oo, oo oo
Oo oo oo, oo oo oo, oo oo, oo oo oo
 Oo, oo, oo, oo, oo

Walk with Dr. George
©1998 Grant Livingston

It's Saturday morning
Get up and stop yawning
Take a walk with Dr. George
To be categorically correct historically
Walk with Dr. George
It's history with a flair
You'd swear that he was there, aw c'mon

Chorus:
Aw c'mon, take a walk with Dr. George
Aw c'mon, take a walk with Dr. George
  It's only history, it's not a mystery!
Aw c'mon, take a walk with Dr. George

When the Spanish came sailing in
With all their sailing men
What do you think they found
There was a guy on the shore giving a tour
Showing the Tequesta around
He said we're about to start
Would you señores like to take part?

Repeat Chorus:

It's Saturday morning
Get up and stop yawning
Take a walk with Dr. George
He's got his megaphone, so shake a leg, come on and
Walk with Dr. George
It's history with a flair
You'd swear that he was there, aw c'mon

Repeat Chorus:

Moved to Nashville
©1996 Grant Livingston

My team just up and moved to Nashville
And left me here all alone
My football team just up and moved to Nashville
And it's just not the same since they've been gone
I still go down to the Astrodome
But home games just don't seem like home
My team just up and moved to Nashville
And left me here all alone

My friends just up and moved to Nashville
And left me here all alone
I said my friends just up and moved to Nashville
And it's just not the same since they've been gone
Winter, spring, summer, fall
I don't mean some I do mean all
My friends just and moved to Nashville
And left me here all alone

I want to be a Nashville cat
I want to learn to play like that
I want to wear a great big hat
 Two-step the night away
They got Andy Jackson - Alan, too
But at least I know my girl is true
And she's the only reason that I stay, here
But my girl just up and moved to Nashville
And left me here all alone
I said my baby just up and moved to Nashville
And it's just not the same since she's been gone
She got a one-step, two-step, three-step drop
You know I was just about ready to pop the question
But my baby moved to Nashville
And left me here all alone

I hear she's singing with a country band
On the weekends she's a football fan
My girl just up and moved to Nashville
My friends just up and moved to Nashville
My football team just up and moved to Nashville
And left me here all alone
And I'm so lonely
They left me here all alone

Martha Knows
© 2000 Grant Livingston

Every company has got a board of directors
A bunch of guys who think they run the show
Law firms got partners, some got lie detectors
But here's the truth that everybody knows
Every company's got someone who gets all the work done
And it sure ain't the CEO
So since you're still new here
The first thing you should do here
Is go right over there and say hello

 Martha knows.
 She's the one.
This company runs on coffee and Martha.
 You want answers?
You got to go no farther.
 Just ask Martha,
 Martha knows.

Now Martha, in her time, has had a lot of titles
Assistant, secretary and girl wonder
Whatever they are calling her, she's absolutely vital
Without her help this business would go under
And on those days when this place is just like a tornado
Martha is the calm in all the thunder
Martha never worries
And she never seems to hurry
Cause she know she's got everybody's number

 Repeat chorus:

  And when the Martians land
They'll need fuel and food and water
They'll step out of their UFOs and say
  "Take me to your Martha"

 Martha knows.
 She's the one.
This planet runs on people like Martha
 You want answers?
You got to go no farther.
 Just ask Martha,
 Martha knows.
 She's the one.
This company runs on coffee and Martha.
 You want answers?
You got to go no farther.
 Just ask Martha,
 Martha knows.

Little Rosie
©1999 Grant Livingston

Little Rosie just five foot high
Still you know we see eye to eye
Little Rosie, Little Rosie, Little Rosie and me
We're going out stepping

Little Rosie just four foot nine
She gets a little smaller every time
I see Rosie, Little Rosie, Little Rosie and me
We're going out stepping

Little Rosie been stepping since nineteen hundred and ten
And every Friday night little Rosie and I
 We go out stepping again

Little Rosie four foot and a half
She knows a place they got Guinness on draft
Little Rosie, Little Rosie, Little Rosie and me
We're going out stepping

Insturmental break:

Don't you ask Little Rosie her age
She'll say, "What's the matter, am I in your way?"
Little Rosie, Little Rosie, Little Rosie and me
We're going out stepping

Little Rosie been stepping since nineteen hundred and ten
And every Friday night little Rosie and I
 We go out stepping again

I tease Little Rosie about her height
But she's seven foot tall if you measure the fight
In Little Rosie, Little Rosie, Little Rosie and me
We're going out stepping
Little Rosie
C'mon, we're going out stepping
Little Rosie and me
We're going out stepping

Mister Moon
© 1995 Grant Livingston

Mister Moon sends his wishes
He wishes you to know
It's been a most delightful evening
You set him all aglow

All aglow in the heavens
A mirror in the skies
He's shining so bright
Just reflecting the light
There in the stars in your eyes

 Mister Moon sends his wishes
Here's wishing his wishes come true
 'Cause the wishes he sends
 No need to pretend
'Cause they're wishes from me to you

All the night is a blanket
With starlight betwen the threads
And the tide pulls sheets of ocean
Across the oyster beds

Mister Moon sends his wishes
He wishes your reply
If you'll be there tonight
Reflect back the light
That he's shining down in your eyes

 Mister Moon sends his wishes
Here's wishing his wishes come true
 'Cause the wishes he sends
 No need to pretend
'Cause they're wishes from me to you

Come on along, day is dawning
The night has flown so soon
Now that daylight has come
Say hello to the sun
And goodnight to Mister Moon

Mister Moon, Mister Moon, Mister Moon
